Technical support

Each hall will be fitted with:

  • a static (for the moderator) and
  • wireless micorophone,
  • a PC with Windows 2000 and Power Point 2000 (if your presentation relies on XP features, make a standalone presentation using the "pack and go" option in the "file" menu.
  • a beamer with XGA resolution (1024*768).

All speakers in a session are encoureaged to use the same PC to deliver the talks. Pluging and unpluging PCs, getting the picture on the beamer etc., are the main resons for delays at conferences.

Should a change of PC be unavoidable, the next speaker should start fiddling with the cables during the discussion about the previous paper - that is, as soon as the previous talk ends.

If a talk is supported by plastic overheads, an overhead projector can be made available in the lecture room by a special request. Please notify the organisers during the registration.

Timing

Plenary papers have a total time slot of 30 minutes, 20-25 for the presentation and 10-5 for discussion. All other papers have a 20 minute time slot, 15 for the presentation and 5 for the discussion. A rule of thumb is that one can show about one slide per minute. No special ECPPM template for the presentations has been defined.

Role of the session chairs

Session chairs intruduce the session, the speakers, keep the time and moderate the discussion. They are typically scheduled as the last speakers in the session that they chair, so they are motivated for keeping the time.

Dress code

Shorts and T-shirts are discouraged.
